While flipping websites for profit, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration before reselling the website. Site flipping is when a website is bought, enhanced and then resold for a profit.
When entrepreneurs flip websites, they take into consideration a variety of factors. The first factor that they take into consideration is the existing revenue generated by the website. The next thing is the scope of improved revenue generated by the website. For this purpose, they will check out the products sold on the website and then determine if the products are those that are timeless and of good quality. If they prove to be products of good standing which customers will continue to buy irrespective of change in styles, trends and fashion, it is considered a good site for flipping websites for profit.
Apart from the above, prospective buyers, when looking to flip websites, will also consider the traffic that the site gets. They will check to see if the traffic is targeted, relevant and likely to buy the products of the site. They will also check to see if the website gets good ranking in search engine listings and if not, whether something can be done to improve the rankings.
How to Flip Websites Using Article Marketing
There are many ways that websites can attract traffic. One of the ways that the buyer is likely to concentrate on is the method of article marketing. Article marketing has a large connection with search engine optimization. Articles are written and submitted to article directories, and you get a lot of back links through the URLs that you mention in the space below the articles. For success, search engine optimization needs to be done through directory submission, Meta tags and on site optimization. Article marketing is done by affiliate marketers to get good exposure for their websites which then converts into sales. Articles need to be written rich in content and with appropriate keywords and keyword densities.
Article marketing consists of writing articles about the product or niche that you are operating in. Therefore, if the site that you have bought recently for site flipping purposes deals with a particular product, you will need to get articles written for that product and related products which will also have a URL to your site. The article title will mention the same keywords that are mentioned within the article. The keywords are usually those that are used by customers to search the web for a particular product. For example, if a person wishes to get information about car insurance in New York, he will type in these keywords, "Car Insurance New York" to arrive at results while searching through the search engines. The webpages having the best quality articles, which are most frequently visited by web users, which also have the keywords in their title, as well as the article body, will be the ones displayed as the first ten results by the search engine. The goal of article marketing is to get your article on the first ten listing. This is called being "visible" in the virtual world. Being more visible has the chance of being led to the source website which then has a greater chance of transacting a business for the product or service the article is about.
One important aspect of article marketing is that the content should be varied and unique yet at the same time be pertinent to what you are trying to convey. The reason why you should submit unique content with unique titles is that the reputed search engines tend to penalize those web pages with similar titles as the search engines understands them as duplicate content which is frowned upon.
There are plenty of article directories and it can be a very tiring process to submit articles manually. If you have just bought a site for site flipping, you can use the instant article submitters which submit your articles to hundreds of directories in no time at all.
Article marketing has a huge impact on SEO. This type of marketing does not involve lengthy articles but its goal is to promote and advertise a business and its website. The aim of articles is that these articles are read by maximum people and this way discovers the website at the origin of the article which is the site that is part of the websites that have been bought for flipping websites for profit.
Search engines usually rank articles pages on the basis of two factors. The first is degree of relevance of the content as applied to a search and the second is the presence of several inbound links that the article has generated. This is because search engines read presence of inbound links as an indicator of the article's popularity. In other words, according to the search engine, the article has successfully managed to entice potential clients.
As a marketing tool, article marketing is an effective tool which is cost effective. It can be used with great success when flipping websites for profit. If you find a site for sale which has many favorable conditions which only lacks good traffic due to bad marketing, you can this site to your flip websites list as all it needs is some exposure through article marketing.
While writing articles, or getting them written as many people are doing nowadays, make sure that the title is very specific. General words may not get you a good ranking as there is too much of competition for these. But specific words can successfully gather you a high search engine ranking. For example, instead of using a title like "All about alcohol poisoning," if you are specific and title the article as "symptoms of alcohol poisoning," or "What to do when your friend has alcohol poisoning," then there are more chances of the second article being visible on the search engine results.
From the above, one can easily see why article marketing tool is a very potent weapon when you are trying to flip websites for profit.

10 Simple Tricks to Speed Up Your Computer
Using these 10 simple tricks, you can bring your sluggish PC back to its former peppy self. These tips are quick and easy to do, most using the help of free software.
Trick 1 - Always run an active virus scanner.
Whether you choose a free option or a paid subscription, active monitoring prevents many problems before they occur. If something does sneak through, you are already one-step closer to resolving the problem.
Trick 2 - Only install software that you trust and use regularly.
Many times a slow of a PC is the result of a too many programs running in the background. This is especially true of older PCs, as they tend to collect more and more programs and data as time goes on.
Trick 3 - Regular registry cleaning.
When you uninstall a program, there are often traces left in the Windows Registry. The Windows Registry is like a map, telling your computer where things are and how to use them. As the registry grows in size, so does the time it takes the computer to use it. Manual registry cleaning is not recommended, however, tools such as PC Tune Up can help safely keep your registry free of errors.
Trick 4 - Reboot your PC regularly.
With all the installs, uninstalls, updates and changes constantly occurring on your PC, it never hurts to give it a quick reboot. This ensures memory is available and any important system or application updates are applied.
Trick 5 - Cut down on graphical 'flair'.
Simply setting your Windows theme to classic or basic modes can free up a surprising amount of resources to give that extra zip back to your PC.
Trick 6 - Desktop Widgets.
These can add up to substantial memory and processor usage. Determine if the convenience of having them constantly on display is worth the loss of performance and remove unnecessary tools.
Trick 7 - Install Google Chrome.
If you have checked out this latest contender in the Internet Browser wars, take the few minutes to do so. While it may take a minute to figure out the subtle changes from your current browser, it is one the fastest and most responsive browsers available.
Trick 8 - Physically clean your PCs air intakes and exhausts.
When your computer gets too warm, it has to decrease performance to prevent damage. Avoid vacuums and liquids and they can create electrical issues. A small paintbrush will do the trick just fine.
Trick 9 - Keep your important programs up-to-date.
Simply find, and enable, the auto-update feature of your favorite programs. These updates are often important fixes or performance boosts.
Trick 10 - Update your graphics card drivers.
These days Intel, ATI or nVidia make most graphics cards. All three companies have easy-to-use websites that will detect your video card and update your drivers.
Follow these 10 simple tricks, and your computer will always be in its best shape. Some of the extra advices on how to fix windows problems fast, can be found here.

The Evolution And Importance Of Multimedia Computers
These days thanks to the Internet along with the widespread introduction of smart phones and mp3 players then the demands placed on our home Personal Computers (PC's) with regards to multimedia are huge.
If you are going to be using your computer for handling mp3 files, DVD's, and making or editing movies or music on, or playing games online on, then you are going to need a home PC that has good multimedia capabilities to get the best experience. A standard home PC or laptop may be okay for playing the odd YouTube video on, but it will not cut it if you are going to play full length DVD movies on your PC.
Likewise if you are going to be transferring music or even movies on to your smart phone then you are going to want a PC that has a lot of storage and the ability to transfer data as fast as possible between devices.
When it comes to watching video then a High Definition (HD) screen on its own just will not do, you will need a PC with a very good graphics card in order to avoid any glitches in the video picture. Also when it comes to playing games on your PC then the bigger and better the graphics card you want, particularly if playing multiplayer games online.
Likewise if you have a PC with a good graphics card and a HD screen, then you will want to ensure that your movie watching experience is not let down by the sound quality. So aim to buy a multimedia PC that can comes not only with very high quality speakers but also a Dolby 5.1 output.
Memory and storage are also both key things to look out for, as a cheaper multimedia PC may have a good screen, graphics and sound cards but skimp on memory and storage, yet these should be at the top of your list, particularly if you are going to be transferring all of your DVD collection on to your machine.
A good high end multimedia machine will also come with optical outputs for the ultimate in sound and video quality.
When it comes to buying one then make sure that you lookout for the above features, as replacing sound and graphics cards to upgrade them is not cheap, and often you will also need a professional to install them for you. When buying computers when it comes to multimedia then bigger, for once, is often better.
If your looking for a Custom LCD Display to go with your current or new PC, why not check out the LCD Monitors at KME.

Slow Computer? A Simple Trick Computer Technicians Use to Boost Computer Speed & Reliability
Computers are great when they run quickly & smoothly, but as soon as they run slow, they quickly become extremely annoying and frustrating to use. Millions of people have to put up with using slow computers every day, and if you're one of them, the good news is that there is a simple trick computer technicians use to help boost the speed of any Windows system in just a few minutes. Here's what you need to do...
The way to boost the speed of your PC is to fix the problems that cause it to run slowly. There are a variety of issues which can cause a computer to slow down, but there's one that causes Windows to take longer to open up your programs & your system. The most common reason why your PC is running slow is that the 'registry' database is continually being corrupted and damaged. This database is one of the most important parts of your system, and is actually the most likely reason why your PC is running slow.
The trick that many computer technicians use to boost the speed of slow computers is to "clean out" the registry database and make Windows able to read it a lot easier. The registry is basically a central database inside Windows, which stores a lot of important files & information your system needs to run. Everything from your desktop wallpaper to your Internet favorites are kept in this database, making it one of the most vital parts of all Windows systems. It's best to think of the registry as like a "telephone directory" for your PC - storing important settings that your computer can look up at any time.
The big problem with the registry database is that it contains so much valuable information that Windows is continually saving many of its listings in the wrong way, making them extremely difficult to read. This is like taking the telephone directory and mixing all the pages up - leading Windows to take longer to read the settings it requires to run, slowing it down and causing a lot of problems on your system. Not many people even know the registry exists inside Windows, but it's one of the most important parts of your PC which needs to be kept in top condition.
The good news is that you can now fix the registry, like the computer pros, and make your PC run extremely fast again. There are effective software programs called "registry cleaners" which have been designed to repair the errors inside the registry, allowing your computer to run much faster and without many errors. Many computer tech's use registry cleaner programs to scan through slow PCs and repair the errors that could be causing them to run slow.
You can boost computer speed by using a registry cleaner tool to fix the various errors that are causing issues inside it. You can Click Here to fix the registry and make it run as fast as it did when it was new.
How Can Pitney Bowes Toner And Printer Products Save A Company Money?
Pitney Bowes just keeps doing it. They are constantly trumping other brands of printers in their ability to pump out the absolute most number of prints in the least amount of time without breaking a sweat. They are saving companies money by the quality service they are always providing and continuing the work day normally.
Pitney Bowes is a brand that means business when it comes to durability of machines as well as providing top-notch quality in everything they do. This equipment for one thing can produce 155 pages per minute. On top of printing this many pages all at one time, it can go for hours printing intricate things that all have the exact same great quality and not once stop because of overheating. These printers keep their cool because of the exact reason that they don't want to ruin the prints. They handle all different types of paper that includes in the list labels and envelopes. The labels and envelopes obviously have adhesive on them and if they are printed by the wrong printer they can be melted. This is not going to make anyone happy having to start over or spend all the time re-opening the envelopes so Pitney Bowes came up with a plan to just cut that part out.
The engine is equipped with enough fan work that will intake cooler air and blow out warmer air to keep everything at a lower temperature. The machine may get a little warm but it is not going to get hot enough to melt any of the ink. This means you can print on your envelopes with windows, labels and also other medium like plain paper, glossy paper, oak tag, brochures and other media that has already been printed on it.
This machine is so tough that it can even print on already filled up envelopes. Whether you are looking to put logos on there, addresses or just some sort of photo or other information it will be put right on there for you.
The unique thing about Pitney Bowes is the security system. Their printers each have the ability to spray red ink all over the documents that are wrongly printed and are also able to be encrypted or decrypted with the code program. There is also the option for key codes that allow you to create a security number to punch in order for the transaction to go through. You can have locks on all the output trays as well as the ink levels being monitored for the ultimate system.
Pitney Bowes takes care of their customers by providing the perfect money saving situation. The programs are ideal for fast action secure document printing.

5 Tricks to Boost Your Ebay Computer Sales
Believe it or not, making money selling custom computers on ebay is very easy. I've personally helped people make anywhere from a 35% - 50% profit per each computer, with an
average computer sale of $1800. (That over $630 net profit - on the low end!)
There is a simple reason most computer builders can't sell their computers successfully. You see, there are two types of people; there are the "techies" and the "people persons".
Techies enjoy understanding how things work. They will take things apart to put them back together just to learn how to put the item together. When a "techie" buys a car, they want
to learn about how the engine works, and what are all the parts names. When they talk to someone, they enjoy talking about the differences in "specs".
Then there are "people persons". They are perfectly happy not knowing how things work - as long as they work. What they do enjoy is getting involved with people. They like to
get in the middle of different social dynamics, typically care a lot about what their friends think etc.
This isn't a psyche class though, this about learning 5 tricks to successfully selling your computers on ebay. So why am I mentioning the "techie" mindset?
As you can guess, most computer builders are techies. The 5 tricks aren't really tricks at all. These 5 tricks allow you to get out of "spec" mode, and into selling successfully
mode. Here goes:
1) Most eBay computer builders put 5 pages of specs. This turns most browsers off. Unlike "techies", most people don't really care about the detailed specs and don't appreciate
it, so don't put them in, save yourself some grief, and gain valuable customers.
2) Use audio / video in your auction. This is very powerful, as you can express your personality in audio and video much better than you can in person.
3) Add Personality to your auction. Essentially, you need to tell people why they should buy from you. You do this by being yourself, and telling people what got you into
computers? What fascinates you about computers? What makes you so confident about your computer building capabilities?
4) Encourage people to contact you and ask questions. I do this prominently on my auctions. I tell people to contact me by either phone, email, or ebay's contact member program.
5) Insert an Instant Messanging service (like meebo me) into your auction to make it easier for people to contact you.
If you apply these tricks to your ebay computer auctions you are well on your way to success.

Are Xerox Printer And Toner Products The Best For Mass Production Printing?
Xerox is one of the companies that has been around since the beginning of office printers. Their company was known widely for their copying machines in the 1980's and they have just kept going up from there. Since they have been around for so long they have mastered the techniques that are necessary for making every type of printer under the sun and perfected each of their pieces of equipment to help companies soar.
Xerox is a brand that focuses on mass production printers. Since they are one of the few that has been around forever they have all the connections they need to know exactly what is going on with every company in the business. Most companies focus on smaller printers that double as home office printers as well as small business printers with multiple functions such as printing photo lab quality prints.
Xerox wants to provide what you REALLY need and not blend in with what all of the other companies are doing. They have perfected the mass production printers they have created for you to use in your bulk printing. Most of their machines start pumping out prints at a whopping 155 pages per minute. These are the newer models so the older ones are slightly less but still hold impressive quality and power.
These machines can hold around 1000 pages at a time so you can just keep shooting out the prints for hours at a time. The machines are built with strong engines that stay cool throughout the process as to not overheat and shut down or damage your goods. They can handle printing envelopes without melting the glue too, and the convenient thing is that they can print full or empty envelopes the same.
The toner cartridges last for longer than other printers too. The fact that these printers are gigantic means they are equipped with more toner because they are obviously doing more printing. Some of the newer printers hold extra toner cartridges so nothing runs out when you are doing mass production in color and you won't have to stand by the machine to constantly switch it out.
Xerox takes care of their customers and all their mass printing needs by providing top quality machines that hold some of the most durable, quickest equipment out there right now. The actions are precise and the results are gold in each of their printers whether they are multifunctional or standard.
Why Should A Larger Business Choose Xerox?
Xerox is one of the big companies that have been around for the longest time. This is why they are able to make all different size models for all different prices but they all have the same thing in common; high quality. They have been doing this more intricately and with more determination than most other companies and it shows through the strength of their product and the longevity of their own business.
This corporation is one of the largest. That is partially why they have had the time to perfect such a gigantic machine within their product offerings. The machines do everything you can think of from handling mass production workloads to taking on many different kinds of media at once and multitasking.
These printers can print up to 155 pages per minute without breaking a sweat. That is a high number compared to desktop printers where some of them only print 12 pages per minute and the older mass production printer/copiers used to print only 8 pages per minute. This machine's engine can withstand heat due to the many fans it is equipped with. Xerox has made this equipment designed to handle whatever you have to throw at it and to do it quickly and simply with its durable body that is able to hold about 1000 sheets of paper in the input tray alone at one time. You will not be refilling very frequently.
The models are designed to handle other types of media than plain paper or copy paper such as envelopes, transparencies, glossy paper and labels. There is an automatic feeder which prints on both sides so as long as the paper can handle the command then so can the printer.
The unique thing about Xerox is that their printers allow you to multitask at the same time. The multifunctional printers that are able to print, copy, fax and scan can handle printing and faxing at once or copying and faxing for you to get your work done more quickly and easily.
The machines are certainly not meant for the desk top since they are of a gargantuan size but they will fit in a fax or copy room nicely. The power save mode helps the machine not heat up the room by turning itself off or down to a lower level setting when not in use.
Xerox is an affordable and economical choice for a larger business. This brand is truly something to look into for the need to get deadlines done.

Epson is an advanced brand that specializes in printers and has nearly mastered the technique of making the perfect printer for every different situation. They are always striving to satisfy their customers so the drive gives them that extra push to make outstanding quality equipment for every situation.

The entire machine is quality. These little desktop printers are beautifully designed with their sturdy pieces inside and out for the best look in your room and the best work ability. The models come in different colors like black, white, silver and tan to match your décor for any type of room.
The prints don't take their time though they look great either. They have a quick turn around with an average of 16 pages per minute throughout their stock of photo printers and they are made to not smudge or fade. Did you know that Epson has perfected the combination of elements in the toners so much that the prints can last up to 300 years if you take care of them right? If you use the correct photo paper and store your prints in a photo book, they will not fade for up to that amount of time.
Epson is a brand that goes above and beyond with their impressive equipment. The durable and long-lasting models last their customers years with the same great quality throughout the partnership.

A Windows 7 Speedup Trick Used by Computer Experts to Make Windows 7 Run Lightning Fast
Although Windows 7 is a brand new operating system, one of the main complaints coming from its 100,000's of users is that it often has a tendency to slow down. This problem is one of the biggest reasons why people upgrade their computers or buy new ones, and is normally only associated with the likes of old PCs or outdated systems. The good news is that if you have Windows 7, you can make it run faster very easily by using a special trick that many computer technicians will use if you take it in to them to be fixed. This trick can be extremely effective, and is very easy to do...
The way to fix any slow Windows computer is to repair the problems that are causing it to run slow. The issue is that since Windows is like a "machine" (with many virtual working parts), the reason why it will run slower is because one, or more, of these parts will either become damaged or unusable. The Windows system is actually just a mesh of different software components all joined together - meaning that if any of these virtual components becomes damaged / corrupted, your system is going to slow down dramatically. All computer technicians will basically work to fix any part of your system which is damaged, and causing your PC to run slower... which means that if you want to speed up your PC - you should do the same.
The "trick" that most computer experts now use to boost Windows 7's speed is to clean out the registry database of your system. The registry database is like the central storage hub for your PC - keeping all the settings & options that your computer requires to run. Everything from your desktop icons to your saved Internet passwords are kept inside the registry, making it one of the most important and frequently used parts of your system. Although not many people even know that Windows has a 'registry', the fact is that it's one of the most important parts of the Windows 7 system, and is used constantly each time you use your PC.
Although Windows 7 is one of the most advanced versions of Windows ever produced, the biggest problem that causes it to run slow is actually down to the way in which this system is constantly saving the "registry" in the wrong way. The problem is that as there are so many vital registry settings inside your system, they are continually being used 100's of times a day to help your computer run as smoothly as possible... but as so many are being used at once, it's often the case that Windows will save many incorrectly. This causes them to be damaged, leading your system to take much longer to read them, slowing it down. Although this problem may seem menial, it's actually one of the main reasons why Windows 7 will run slow, and the trick to fix it is to use a "registry repair tool" to fix any of the damaged parts of it that are causing problems.
The Windows 7 speed up trick used by computer experts it to use a "registry cleaner" program to fix the registry of your system. You can make Windows 7 run faster by using the registry cleaner from our website.

IP Camera - Advantages Over an Analogue Camera
The Main Advantages of an IP Megapixel Camera over an Analogue Camera
- The megapixel IP camera will enable you to zoom in on certain areas of the picture before the point of interest pixellates.
- The camera will cover a larger area, e.g. a 1.3 Megapixel camera will cover 3 times the area of a standard analogue camera
- The recorded picture can be digitally zoomed without the picture being distorted to obtain face and number plate recognition
- 2 CIF - 704x288 = 202,752 pixels
- VGA - 640x480= 307,200 pixels
- D1 - 720x486 = 349,920 pixels
- 4 CIF - 704x576 = 405,504 pixels
- 1.3 Megapixel - 1280x1024 = 1,310,720 pixels
- Vivotek
- Mobitix
- Arecont
- Axis
- Panasonic
- How many megapixels in the IP camera
- What size CCD is in the camera, it is normally a 1/4", 1/3" or a 1/2". The 1/2" is the highest quality and the 1/4" is the lowest quality
- Does the camera have Infra red built in or do you need to provide extra lighting (infra red or security flood lights etc)
- Is the camera compatible with your network video recorder
- Do you want the camera to have an SD slot for recording locally on to an SD card?

Slow computers are annoying and frustrating, but are actually very easy to fix. You can use a special 'trick' to make many Windows computers run fast again, and by using this trick, your PC will last longer and will be able to run more problems quicker.
The 'trick' I am talking about is to clean out the 'registry' of Windows. This might sound trivial but it can have an extremely beneficial impact on your system - and 100's of people are successfully applying it every day to make their computers run extremely fast.
To make your PC run faster, one of the most effective things you can do is to clean out all the errors and issues that build up inside the 'registry'. The registry is basically the central database for your computer which stores information and settings about Windows. It's where your computer stores the likes of your latest emails, desktop wallpaper and even your saved login details. However, it's also the cause of most slow PCs throughout the World.
The problem with many slow computers is that they have a registry database that is full of junk and corrupt files. Think of the database as being 'fat' where your computer's memory is bloated with files that it cannot read. This problem is caused everyday when you use your PC - each time you use Windows, it ends up opening too many registry files for your system, and ends up getting confused and saving many of these files in the wrong way.
When registry settings are saved in the wrong way, it makes them unable to read the files that your computer needs to run. This slows it down and is basically like having a telephone directory with all of its listings in the wrong order. This problem is extremely common and the reason why many Windows PCs seem to run slower and slower.
To fix this problem for good, you need to keep the Windows registry free from any corrupt or damaged files. The trick to doing this quickly and easily is to use a registry repair tool to automate the process of cleaning out any damaged registry files from your system. These are software programs which will automatically remove the registry errors on your computer and make it run faster again. To use them, you simply have to download a registry tool from the net, install it and then it will automatically remove the problems that are causing your system to run slower.
To make your computer run fast, it's advisable that you use a registry cleaner tool to remove any of the damaged settings that are inside it. You can Click Here to speed up your PC.

MEMS Fabrication Processes
The techniques utilized in MEMS fabrication borrow from techniques established for the integrated circuit industry, but they have been extended to include production of mechanical components. There are three elements in the conventional processing of silicon wafers. These elements are deposition, etching and lithography. Let's take a good look at them.
Deposition
Deposition answers the challenges within the basic building blocks of MEMS processing, particularly with the ability of depositing thin films or layers of material. Here, it is to be assumed that any thin film will have a thickness from a fraction of a nanometer to several micrometers. This film material can be etched locally using various processes in the etching and lithography departments.
Chemical deposition or specifically the chemical-vapor deposition (CVD) functions on the principle that initiating surface chemical reactions within controlled atmospheres will result to the deposition of various reactions on heated substrates. In all essence, CVD is a process that requires high temperatures. It is categorized by the following: atmospheric - pressure (APCVD), low pressure (LPCVD), plasma - enhanced (PECVD), of which it also encompasses high - density plasma (HDP - CVD).
Epitaxy is a deposition method that grows a crystalline silicon layer on top of a silicon wafer with a different dopant type, including its concentration.
Etching
Etching technology can work on isotropic (omnidirectional) or on anisotropic (directional) principles. Isotropic etchants functions by etching through all directions uniformly, which would then result into rounded cross-sectional features. Anisotropic etchants by contrast, etches in various directions over others, which would result to abnormal cavities or trenches delineated by the flat and well-defined surface. It does not need to be perpendicular to the wafer surface.
Etch rates and its overall speed must be fast enough to be effective and viable for production. It must be controlled as well, though it is not location dependent.
Within the etching industry, the wet etching process is probably the simplest to achieve. All that the activity requires is a liquid solution container that dissolves the material in question. Complications arise though, since the person doing the etching needs to wear a mask. This mask must be durable enough no to dissolve during operation
Another method, called Reactive ion etching places the substrate inside reactors where it will be introduced to several gas types. Plasma will also be struck within the gas mixture via an RF power source, which breaks the gas molecules lingering within into ions. These accelerate and then reacted towards the etched surface material, which would then form into another gaseous material. This chemical process takes place in reactive ion etching.
Lithography
This particular MEMS technique involves the following steps: application of photoresist, which is actually a standard layer with photosensitive emulsion; an optical exposure of the mask printed into the photoresist; and an aqueous solution immersion dissolving the exposed photoresist. The third type also renders the latent image created visible.
The field of micro devices is still relatively new. MEMS fabrication advancements will change the world in which we live in many ways. These micro devices are well capable of achieving great mechanical feats on a macro scale. This is the future.

A Super Fast Windows Trick - Make Your Computer Run Like it Did When it Was New
If your computer is slow, you don't need to me to remind you how annoying and frustrating it is to use. This is a big problem which even the most advanced computers fall victim to, but is also something which is very easy to fix if you know how.
The problem with slow computers is actually an issue which Windows has - where it's prone to making the settings and files that your computer needs to run corrupted and damaged. Every time you use Windows, it need to load 100's of different files and settings to help it run. All these files are kept inside the 'registry' database, which is one of the most important parts of the Windows system.
The settings and files that are inside the 'registry' database are amongst the most important that Windows has, and are responsible for saving such information as your desktop icons and your Windows theme color. However, the reason why your computer runs slowly is most likely down to the settings inside the registry becoming damaged and unreadable, making Windows take longer to process the files it needs, which slows it down.
The reason why most Windows computers run slower & slower is because of how the 'registry' is being used (and abused). Each time you use your PC, 100's of registry files need to be opened to help your computer run fast, but as more and more of these files are opened, Windows gets confused and saved many of them in the wrong way. This causes the registry files to be unreadable, making Windows run extremely slowly.
The trick to fixing a slow computer is to recognize what the problem is that's causing it to run slow and then fix that problem. And considering most computers are caused by the 'registry' being full of damaged files, you can use a 'registry cleaner' to fix all the problems that they have, allowing them to speed up and run faster. You first need to download a registry tool from the Internet and then install it on your system. It will then try and scan your PC, revealing all the errors that are on it. It will show you a large number of errors, and will give you an option to remove them all. If the number of errors id greater than 300, you should definitely remove them.
The trick to speed up Windows is to use a 'registry cleaner' to fix all the damaged registry settings inside your PC. You can Click Here to make your PC run lightning fast.

How to Set Up and Configure FreeNAS
I have been playing around with old hardware recently and one of the things I have done is install and set up FreeNAS NAS storage. This tutorial will show you how.
Before we do anything you must first find out your network configuration. In windows open up a command prompt and type ipconfig /all. In Linux open up a terminal and type ifconfig. Write down your IPv4 address, default gateway, subnet mask and DNS servers as we will be using this information later.
Now we need to get our hands on a copy of FreeNAS. Once downloaded burn a copy to CD. The next thing you have to do is decide where you are going to install it. I chose an old computer I had lying around (thanks Rob) but you could just as well install it within a virtual machine. The computer had 10Gb of storage and I installed another 1.5Tb. FreeNAS can be installed on a USB penstick thus saving your hard drive for network storage but since I had the 10Gb disk I used that instead.
Insert the CD into your computer and allow the software to install. Once installed you will arrive at the console setup which will give you the URL to access your installation via a web interface. For example mine was 192.168.1.12.
Open up your browser of choice and enter your FreeNAS URL. When prompted the default username and password are:
admin and freenas (we will be changing this later)
You will then be faced with the FreeNAS interface where you can configure your server.
Network
The first thing you need to configure is your network interface and you do this by using the network tab. Click on the network tab and you will be presented with more settings. In Global Configuration choose a hostname, enter your default gateway (e.g 192.168.1.1) and your nameserver (usually the same as your default gateway). Once done press ok. Next click on Interfaces and then add interface. You need to set your IPv4 address as static so it doesn't change. So for example my network goes from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255 so I chose 192.168.1.3. When you set this the web interface from now on will always be the address you enter so mine is now set to 192.168.1.3. Also set your netmask. Mine was 255.255.255.0 (so /24).
Users
Next thing we need to do is set the users who will be able to access our shares. Click on Account (left menu) and go to Users - add user. Add a username and a password (make sure this is the same as the user on your computer that will be accessing the shares). Now expand Account - Groups - add group and add a new group who will be able to access the shares. Final thing is to add your username to the new group. Click on Account - Groups - view all groups and then find the new group and click on members. Add yourself to the new group.
Storage
Now we come to adding your storage. Click on the storage tab and then add volume. Choose volume name, disk and filesystem type (use ZFS). Once done click add volume. The disk should now be visible with ONLINE next to it. Next we need to set the permissions. Click on Change Permissions and then chose who owns the file (should be set to your username). Then in owner group add the group you set up earlier and then set the permissions as required. Once completed press save.
Sharing
We will now set up the shares. Click on the sharing tab. If you will be sharing to Windows machines click on Windows, Apple for Apple and Unix for Linux. Add the share and set up as required.
Services
We now have to make sure that we can see the shares over the network. Click on the services tab at the top of the screen. For windows turn on CIFS and for Linux NFS.
Your FreeNAS server is now set up.
Accessing Shares over the network
For windows: right click on computer (Windows 7) and select map network drive. Browse for the share.
For Linux: enter the following line into the fstab file
192.168.1.3: /mnt/MyDisk1 /media/dev/MyDisk1 nfs hard, 0 0
where:
- 192.168.1.3 is the static address of your FreeNAS server
- /mnt/MyDisk1 is the path to your FreeNAS storage
- /media/dev/MyDisk1 is the mount point
- nfs is the filesystem
Here at ComTech I spend a large portion of my time protecting my clients data. I can advise on backup strategies that suit you or your business and then implement and maintain them for you whether it be a Windows, Linux or FreeNAS solution. Dell 1135n Printer and Toner Features
In order to have confidence when purchasing a new electronic it is important to be aware of all your options. Analyzing specific printer models is the best way to find the perfect match for your home or office. One printer in particular, being the Dell 1135n, has a lot of extra features to offer a user. This model can be found in stores or online along with the toner needed to keep the device producing premium quality outcomes. The differences between the Dell 1135n and a standard printer include everything from their capabilities to their compact size. It allows users to make the most of their money from the beginning to the end of their printer's lengthy lifetime.
One of the reasons the Dell 1135n is able to save money is because it is created to have a low overall cost per page. Savings might not be noticeable on a small scale, but over time these single decimals add up to noticeable sums. A part of the interworking that contributes to lowering the page costs is the printer's ability to maximize the use of toner. This doesn't mean images and text will be less vibrant, rather excessive amounts of toner aren't unnecessarily used. After nearly 700 pages have printed, toner levels will begin to fall short and the printer will notify you directly to prevent further problems. Replacing the cartridges, whether they are brand new or compatible, can be accomplished quickly in this easy use model.
In addition to the listed, mentioning the different functions is crucial to understanding the printer's positive reputation. In fact, it would be nearly wrong to classify this multifunction "printer" as simply that. The 1135n is more than this, but a scanner, copier, and fax machine too. Each option performs just as good as the last and can be accomplished on nearly any style of paper from thick to transparent sheets. This allows for your creativity to run free when making labels, envelopes, or photos.
Since the device is able to perform many tasks one might wonder if it is possible to "over use" the machine. The printer does have a recommended monthly limit; however, it brims a large number of 12000. When you have your pages arrive promptly, exceeding 20 per the minute, you can always expect your next request to be equally successful. It's the perfect device for smaller groups of people needing various things from the machine. You can't go wrong with this model while its warranty won't let it go wrong on you.

How to Install Untangle Linux in Virtualbox
I have been looking around lately at all the old hardware I have lying around and thought what could I do with it all? Media center? Web server? Hardware Firewall perhaps? Then I came across Untangle Linux Firewall and thought why not give this a try!! Next thought was why install on the old hardware and increase my energy costs when I can install it on Virtualbox on my main Linux server instead? So I have installed Untangle Linux Firewall on Virtualbox running on a Linux Mint 10 File and Print Server and below will outline how I did it.
My network looks like this:
Internet - Wireless Router - Untangle Linux Firewall - Linux Mint 10 file and print server - Various Virtual machines.
I have left the wireless router outside the main network as I am only concerned with protecting my main server and virtual machines. I will still have firewalls on any wireless clients.
First thing is to get a copy of Untangle Linux Firewall. Once you have it fire up Virtualbox and add a new virtual machine. Remember you need the following requirements during set up:
1. Create a fixed sized disk of at least 20Gb. If you allocate a dynamic disk the installation will fail.
2. Allocate at least 512Mb of RAM. I allocated 1024Mb and it runs fine.
3. Make sure you allocate 2 NIC's for your virtual machine and set both to bridged adapter so Untangle can talk to the rest of your network.
Mount your iso in the virtual CD drive and fire up the virtual machine and then follow installation instructions. Make sure that you set the following during installation:
When asked set the external adapter to DHCP (unless you have got a static IP address from your ISP) and verify your internet connection. Make sure that the DNS server and gateway are on the same subnet as your host machine. For example mine looked like this:
IP address 192.168.1.10
default gateway 192.168.1.1
dns server 192.168.1.1
*My home server is on 192.168.1.9*
Your internal adapter should be set as bridge and bridge to external. This will allow you to use your 1 physical adapter as two virtual ones.
Once installed (it does take a while) you will be asked to upgrade your Untangle system prior to installing any Apps. Do this as it is always important to have an up to date system. Next download the Lite package on the rack. This will install all the open source packages you require and personally unless you are a medium to large business all you will ever need. Once installed test your connectivity from other machines on the network and also check how secure your network is by going to ShieldsUp and using their online firewall scanner to test your firewall.
As for all the old hardware? Suggestions here please to the usual address!!
Here at ComTech I love Linux. I use it for my own systems in the office and 'pass on the good word' to clients when appropriate. I can sort out any Linux queries you might have or offer advice if needed. Please go to http://www.comtech247.net for more information.

Understanding How Data Packets Travel Across the Network
When troubleshooting IP networks over Ethernet it helps to understand how packets travel across the network. Packets use two different mechanisms to get from point A to Point B, or from the source to the destination. IP addresses and MAC addresses.
The MAC address is the layer 2 address that represents the specific hardware that is connected to the wire. The IP address is the layer 3 address that represents the logical identity of the device on the network.
MAC Address
Most every computer today has some sort of network interface card (NIC) either built-in or installed on the computer. Every NIC is created with a hardware number permanently "burned" into it. This permanent hardware number is known as the MAC (Media Access Control). MAC addresses are 48 bits in length and are usually displayed as a 12 digit hexadecimal number.
MM:MM:MM:HH:HH:HH
The first 24 bits (or 6 digits) represent the manufacturer of the NIC. The last 24 bits (6 digits) are a unique identifier that represents the Host or the card itself. No two MAC identifiers are alike.
IP Address
The IP address is the logical address that is associated with the MAC for a particular device. IP addresses (IPv4) are a 32 bit (12 digit) number representing 4 binary octets.
Both an IP and a MAC are needed for data to travel across an Ethernet network.
The ARP Protocol
When a computer sends data over the network, it first needs to find which route it must take. Will the packet stay on the network or does it need to leave the network. The computer first determines this by comparing the subnet mask to the destination ip address.
Once this destination is known, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is used to find the next hop on the network. ARP's job is to basically discover and associate IP addresses to the physical MAC.
For a packet that has a destination on another network, ARP is used to find the MAC of the gateway router. An ARP packet is sent to the gateway router asking for it's MAC. The router reply's back to the computer with it's mac address. The computer will then forward the packet directly to the mac address of the gateway router.
When the gateway router receives the packet it will remove it's mac address as the destination and replace it with the mac address of the next hop router. It will also replace the source computer's mac address with it's own mac address. This happens at each route along the way until the packet reaches it's destination.
Going Postal - An Example
Let's use the postal service to help explain this. Think of this process like taking a letter and stuffing it in an envelope. Then take that envelope and stuff it in another envelope addressed to the local post office. The post office then takes out the inner envelope, to determine the next stop on the way, puts it in another envelope with the new destination.

Consider Why You Should Choose Managed Hosting Services
If you're choosing a hosting service, there are a number of decisions to make. None may be as important as the decision on whether to use managed hosting services or self-managed services. There are arguments for each side, but managed hosting services are far superior to the alternative for a number of reasons.
For anyone not already familiar, these provider offer servers that you buy or rent and that are then managed by the company selling the service. You get the services of a person or team that will maintain your server full-time and make all of the necessary tweaks as time goes on to keep your website running smoothly. Some of the benefits are inherent in knowing this, others will reveal themselves with time.
Perhaps the biggest reason to choose managed hosting services is the time that they save you. If you're a developer, then you already know that time is the most important asset that any of us have. By choosing such a company, you will save countless hours that would otherwise be spent overseeing a server, performing tedious tasks such as making software upgrades and checking security.
Another reason to choose a managed hosting service is if you don't have the time or inclination to stay up-to-date with server management techniques. The tech field is changing constantly. Operating systems get upgraded, new security vulnerabilities are discovered and even standards can be changed. By using a hosting provider, you don't have to keep up with these sorts of things.
Professional management is another reason to pursue this option. You might consider yourself to be very savvy of what it takes to run a server, and that may very well be true. But unless your day-to-day job is already to manage a hosting service, then you won't be as qualified as a professional supplied by a hosting service. Using a managed service, then, allows you to get peak performance out of your website. Imagine the lost revenue that can result from managing your own server and not having it constantly running as efficiently as possible. With a managed host, you won't have to worry about server upkeep because it's being done for you.
All in all, managed hosts are the way to go. They save you time and energy, and they keep your website running as smoothly as possible. Everyone wants to get the most out of their site, and managed hosts make this a reality.

How to Change Your Wireless Encryption
Most people know that you need to keep your wireless network secure but how many people know how to check their wireless encryption and maybe even increase it? This tutorial will show you how to access your router, view your existing settings and increase your level of encryption.
Before we start a few words on the different types of encryption. There are basically 4 different types of encryption - WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and EAP. Home users only need to worry about the first 3 whereas EAP will only apply to businesses with a Radius server. Almost all routers and WAP's (wireless access points) by default only come with WEP or even no encryption whatsoever. WEP has some pretty big security failings and can be easily broken using tools off the internet in no time whatsoever!!! WPA is much better but WPA2 is, at the moment, virtually unbreakable. EAP requires a radius server which centralises all access attempts but this is not covered in this tutorial.
Ok open up a browser and type one of the addresses below which corresponds to your router in the address bar. For example mine would be 192.168.1.1
Sky 192.168.0.1
BT 192.168.1.254
Orange 192.168.1.1
TalkTalk 192.168.0.1
Virgin 192.168.1.1
You will then be asked for the router login details. If this is the first time that you have accessed your router then use one of the passwords below. If you have accessed your router before and changed the login details then use those.
Sky username = admin, password = sky
BT username = admin, password = admin
Orange username = admin, password = admin
Talktalk username = admin, password = password
Virgin username = virgin, password = password
Next thing to do is locate the wireless settings. Once located you should be able to determine what type of encryption you have and what the key is. Make sure that you have the highest form of encryption available for your router (either WPA or WPA2) and that your key is made up of both letters and numbers. Keep a record of your encryption key in a safe place for future reference. Before you leave the router settings change the admin login and again keep a copy in a safe place for future reference.
All that is left to do is reconnect all your wireless devices using the new level of encryption.
Securing your network, whether it be a home or business one, is vital to keep your data safe. Here at ComTech I can advise on the strength of your network defences and implement new solutions if required. Please go to http://www.comtech247.net for more information.

Let's Talk Tech Tools - Businesses Just Run Better With the Right Tools
Running a business can be difficult; we all know that. But one thing which can make it so much easier is to take advantage of the many tech tools available today. So many believe it's just too difficult to learn new things and so they just don't do it. But truly nothing could be farther from the truth (well a few things, but for this let's go with nothing!) Many of these tools are not only easy to learn and use, but can save you an enormous amount of time and money as well. Now I've got your attention!
Here are the top three tech tools we recommend:
Skype - This tool is so much more than a long-distance alternative and inexpensive way to connect with others. Yes, the capability to call anyone anywhere for free is GREAT, but that is only one of the many benefits you can enjoy with Skype. Perhaps one of the most utilized benefits for small businesses is the ability to instantly connect with your clients and others anytime you need them. Think about it; how often have you needed a quick response to a question, but had to wait hours for a return email or phone call? With Skype you can instantly message someone and get the info you need within seconds. Now instant messaging isn't new, but one benefit to Skype is say you discover you need to talk in more detail with the person, with a click of a mouse and your trusty headset; you can be talking to that person within seconds. (Take that Facebook!)
Skype has also become the norm for business meetings, interviews, events and other opportunities where a personal connection is needed. As an example, look at TV and notice how often you see guest appearances via Skype. Guests no longer have to be flown in for an interview. Thanks to great technology and the use of webcams, it's as if they are right there with you. That's money in the bank if you normally host numerous events.
Another huge benefit for many is the ability to share your screen with someone while on a Skype call. Coaches especially appreciate this feature and the ability to walk someone through the steps they are teaching. It is also priceless when a problem arises as well. Having the ability to show someone exactly what is happening enables you to find quick solutions. (Just remember you share the screen throughout the call until you tell it to end. You don't want to be embarrassed by checking email while Skyping because you forgot the share-screen feature was on.)
Basecamp -If you aren't using Basecamp for your business, why not? It makes everything so much easier and streamlined. Basecamp is a project management and collaboration software that is not only convenient and so easy to use, but is also an excellent way to easily organize your projects and collaborate with your team and clients.
One of the best advantages of Basecamp is perhaps its unique method of keeping everything in one central location. This allows you to monitor numerous team members in one primary location and for coaches and speakers, offers a centralized location for your students to ask questions and keep their materials. Individual logins and passwords are provided, which allows easy access to files, notes, messages, etc. Think back to how much time you have wasted sifting through Outlook to find an email from previous months. With Basecamp, you easily follow the thread and have all that correspondence in a flash. Again, this can offer you a huge savings of both your time and money. And that is just a few of the benefits to Basecamp. There are so many more (including their whiteboard feature), so make sure to check it out ASAP.
Dropbox - This is a file-sharing and storage tool utilized by many businesses. The beauty of this resource is that it enables you to work with large files effortlessly. But there is so much more to it than that. You have the ability to share multiple files in one location, create and share folders, and best yet, numerous people can have access to these files through a simple invite. It is also beneficial for the on-the-go entrepreneur because of its ability to sync files and share folders among your many electronics such as your iPad, smart phone, etc. Since Dropbox is an online tool, you can access it from any of your devices.
With the paid versions of Dropbox you can even utilize it as a back-up system. Not only will it keep your files safe and sound, but if something were to happen to your computer or back-up in your home or office, you would still be protected.
Trying to run a business these days without utilizing some of these great tech tools is like trying to dig a ditch with a spoon. You might eventually get it done, but you'd be asking yourself the entire time-"Isn't there a better way?" Using the right tech tools can increase your productivity, which of course, will affect your profitability. Start using these today and you'll see what a difference having the right tools can make in your business.

What Kind Of Printing Are The Brother HL 4570CDWT Printer And Toner Products Best For?
The HL 4570DWT is certainly at the top of the list for maximizing productivity at a low cost. There are many things that are good to use this model printer for along with the toner products made for this design because of the quality and longevity of the toner and durability of the machine.
The outcome impresses everyone that sees it. The prints come out with a thick looking coat of toner while at the same time saving on the actual toner cost because of its ability to go into a toner saving mode. The toner is so rich in pigment that it doesn't need the entire amount to look just as bold and vivid as a regular printer that uses more toner. The fibers of the paper have a better chance of being clung to by the toner particles because of the heat and the procedure of the printer that they go through.
This printer focuses on the functions that are high in demand so you can get all your communication and document printing finished quickly and with quality. The performance is steady and holds high worth at all times; even in large quantities.
One of the unit's biggest features is that it can print in color, as well as scan copy and fax all in color too. The features will save you time by their updated data and their streamlined designs which cut out all the fat so you are getting directly what you need.
Document printing can be done quickly as well as communication tasks with the functions available on this printer. It's user friendly LCD screen allows you to navigate through the commands to easily print scan and copy as well as fax easily.
The machine has other features such as auto-duplex printing which means that both sides of the paper can be printed automatically which can save you lots on paper cost. You can save up to 50 percent on paper cost by using duplex features. In conjunction with the energy saving mode and the toner saving mode you will be saving up to 30 percent on your entire cost of running your printer than you would with a different one.
The fact that the entire printer in general is a less start up cost because of its high quality while being low priced and low maintenance cost means that you are getting this printer for a significant chunk less.

Information Assurance - The Availability Attribute
Information Assurance assigns systems to shield data and the computer systems they reside on, and the transmission approaches processed to transmit the data. Availability is certified by requiring an impeccable and prompt avenue to information services and information only for entrusted users. By achieving consistency of the material and data structures of the operating system, hardware, software and filed material and analytical accuracy, entirety and dependability, integrity is guaranteed. Integrity can also assure against unauthorized deletion of information. Information assurance also certifies acceptance by guaranteeing the certainty of a communication or a document and its producer, and also by substantiating an individual's approval to accept explicit data from the architecture. Confidentiality is preserved by only exposing information to trusted organizations or systems. Non-repudiation is included, which is ensuring evidence of delivery to the transmitter of material and supporting validation of identity to the receiver, to require neither recipient can afterwards debate having processed the data. Information Assurance also accounts for additional fundamentals to include reconstruction of information systems by assembling protection, detection, and reaction qualifications.
Information Assurance furnishes availability by furnishing up-to-date and impeccable access to information and information services for entrusted users. The users need have reliable avenue to all hardware, software, services and information. Often availability is also assessed in terms of what is attainable to just mission-critical processes, but it need also be evaluated for the comprehensive system.
Design theories that promote availability can be incorporated into the system. Elements and subsystems need be able to be gracefully restarted at will. Subsystems and elements have to be independent of each other and adhere to an open architecture. Subordinately critical missions or functions should be uncoupled from more crucial ones, as well as more risky functions from those that are less risky. Networks, processes, and information assembly can also be optimized for mission availability. The architecture can be securely executed for increased availability so that platforms, software and architecture are produced as services such as cloud computing. Cloud computing can support additional availability owing to proficient usage of assets and making individual disruptions imperceptible to the user. The redundance of services like these make the architecture more tolerable of failures and unavailabilities.
Timeliness, connected to Quality of Service (QoS), is notable since belated might be equally as bad as not at all. Resource allotment could be changed to adhere to timeliness requirements. There are repeatedly tradeoffs between QoS attributes and Information Assurance specifications.
Measurement and metrics ought help describe the objects of availability problems and must also incorporate process errors. If the administration and end users are not pursuing a right process, this might alter end-to-end availability even if the hardware, software and services may be available. Processes must also be examined in the measurement of availability as it could describe for a remarkably considerable part of system interruption. There are lots of metrics that may be used for availability, comprising of:
- How long and frequently each subsystem was down
- How many authorized users there are and their access level
- Portion the system is suspended or information is not reachable
- Percent the system is down or information is not obtainable due to Security errors
- Portion of CPU used for Security measures
- Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)

Backup Strategies
Most people know about the need to backup your data but what is the best way to do it. Today we shall take a look at some different strategies and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Having a Server
Using a server to backup your data has long been established as a sound way to store your backups and for good reason - it keeps all your backups in one place and is easy to manage. You set up the scheduled backup and leave it to it. It is not all rosy though. There is the price of the windows software (unless you set up a Linux server) and if the server crashes you could use everything.
Pros - easy to manage, backups all in one place.
Cons - price of Windows software (although can be set up on Linux), backup is on site so if the building catches fire (for example) then you lose everything.
External USB hard drives
External hard drives are a good way to back up your data especially as they can be taken off premises (or at least placed away from the main system). They are cheap too which makes them very attractive. One big downside though is lack of automation. Yes you can still schedule a backup on your computer but you need to remember to plug in your hard drive at the specified time. If you have more than one system then this can take up valuable time. If you chose not to schedule a backup but instead do it manually, you have to remember to do it everyday and how many people would be able to remember that (yours truly included).
Pros - cheap, can be taken offsite.
Cons - not automated, brings the 'human factor' into the backup strategy where things get forgotten, can be lost.
DVD / CD
There was a time when everyone was using these (me included) but as amounts of storage increased the shear number of DVD's / CD's required to backup all your data just got huge. For example it would take 24 DVD's to backup 100Gb of data!!
Pros - cheap, can be taken off site.
Cons - numbers involved to backup your data will just become huge, can be scratched and lost, not automated either.
Cloud Storage
The cloud is one of the buzz words floating around the IT world at the moment and one of the main points is online storage. You upload your data to servers located somewhere else in the world. The main advantage of this approach is that your data is stored away from your premises. You are able to access your data at any time and you save in hardware costs. The main disadvantages are that that you would have no control about the security that your data will receive (although these companies will have loads of security protocols that they must follow) and the monthly subscription to keep your data safe.
Pros - no extra hardware or software costs, data is kept away from your premises, automated.
Cons - possible security issues, monthly subscription charges, someone else looking after your data
NAS boxes
NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. These are boxes which can hold two or more hard drives that are attached directly to your network. They basically act like file servers without the expensive software costs.
Pros - relatively cheap, hard drives can be easily swapped and taken off site, backups can be automated.
Cons - additional hardware costs, if hard drives are not changed then your data is still on your premises.
So which one is best. As usual it depends on what you are after and what your budget is. I would recommend the following (remember this is just my professional opinion):
Business: Implement a NAS box but make sure that the hard drives are swapped either everyday (lots of data changes) or every couple of days (not a lot of changes). Check out Novatech for deals on NAS boxes.
Home: Again you could use NAS boxes but I would be tempted with online storage coupled with external hard drives. This way your data is safely stored online but as I am paranoid about losing data I would still back up everything to an external hard drive (every couple of days or so) and store it in a different location within the house. Check out dropbox for deals on online storage
Here at ComTech I can advise on your current backup strategy to see if it suits your business or home and if not recommend a new one. Please go to http://www.comtech247.net for more information.
